As Timeless
As Honey.
Pilot / Namiki | Third Year | Art Direction | ADBR 312
A campaign for the Pilot Namiki Bumblebee Limited Edition Ballpoint that positions everyday writing as timeless art.
The Project
Pilot is a heritage brand in fine writing with prestige tied to fountain pens but less awareness for ballpoints. The Bumblebee Limited Edition is crafted by Kokkokai Maki-e artisans using the traditional Togidashi-Hira Maki-e finish. The As Timeless As Honey campaign positions the pen as a vessel of heritage, art, and personal expression across luxury magazine spreads, airport OOH, and publication mockups.
The Challenge
Build awareness and desire for a luxury ballpoint in a category overshadowed by the brand's fountain pens — while honoring the Japanese craftsmanship behind the product.
The Insight
Great writing flows as sweetly and naturally as honey. The golden honey motif connects the bumblebee design of the pen to the act of writing itself, turning a writing instrument into a personal legacy.
